I think it was all a bit too much for him and the smiles dried up so I think I’ll stick to the less formal portraits. For now at least!

So imagine my surprise and delight when new website www.yourperfectweddingphotographer.co.uk featured one of my photos in it’s photo of the week post today.

I signed up to the site before Christmas to increase awareness of what I was doing and I’m very glad I did.  There are so many wedding photographers coming fresh into the business (me included) so you need to try everything you can to get couples to even visit your site, let alone stay long enough to have a look at some of your images.

So I am very grateful that the lovely people at YPWP decided they liked my image of Kimberly getting ready, from my Surrey wedding last year, enough to feature it.  There’s still along way to go to get the exposure and traffic through the site that I think it deserves but fingers crossed this is a step in the right direction.

Your Perfect Wedding Photographer

It almost seemed that Frankie was desperate to validate the old adage of never working with children or animals.

Not that it was her fault, she was tired, I wouldn’t like someone turning up to take my picture if I was in need of a nap.  She soldiered on though and with a little persuasion from mum and dad we soon had some smiles.

Weddings can be such stressful days for some, but my recent trip to Bath for Ellie and Giles’ wedding made it seem anything but.  The couple were very relaxed despite organising everything themselves including a reception in a park.

Ellie got ready at home before traveling on to the Little Theatre Cinema for the ceremony.

And then off to Alice Park  for a very personal reception.

With this in mind, I am now happy to present Charlotte and Moray’s wedding from early August.  Stunning location in the Derbyshire countryside, lovely couple and lots of colour.  The new Mr and Mrs London decided to try and do as much as they could themselves on the day and with the reception taking place in a marquee in their garden, they didn’t have too much choice but to get involved.

Like many grooms, Moray started his day in the Lantern Pike Inn while his bride to be ran around organising the final details.

Kimberly and Owen were fairly relaxed about proceedings but with Kimberly’s background running the show and Owen’s skills form the Navy coming into it, the day was always going to run smoothly, wasn’t it?

An early start (although not early enough given the bride’s late arrival at the church proved) meant lots of preparation.

Luckily Kimberly did arrive eventually (blaming the traffic lights and road works) and the ceremony could get underway.

And so the day was back on track and the fun moved on to Greyfriars House near Guildford where cocktails were created by Honey and Lime who did a great job of keeping everyone’s glasses topped up.

Luckily the couple were very relaxed about what photos they wanted so everyone got on with enjoying the day and I got on with my job, and what a great day it was.  Here is a small selection from the day.

A few weekends ago now I covered the wedding of Polly and Dan at Gate Street Barn in Surrey.  Of the many weddings I have photographed this year, this one stood out because Dan and I go back a long way having been at university together in Bournemouth and I’ve met Polly several times as the couple have been together since they were teenagers.

So you could say this was a very different job, was it even a job?  It’s always tricky to strike that balance between being a guest and being there to work but hopefully I managed it that day.  The couple were very laid back about what they wanted in their photos which was good for me and on the day the sun was shining so there really wasn’t much to worry about.

I used my trusted Nikon D3s and D700 with the usual lenses and edited the images in Lightroom which I am still finding to be a very useful package.  I am still working out how to get my images in order on these galleries so bear with me while I figure it out.
